Norse Mythology Book Tag!

Hey guys! Hope you’ve been having a great week! So this week, I ordered Ship of the Dead by Rick Riordan, which is his final instalment to the Magnus Chase series, and it’s about Norse Mythology. So just to brush up on my knowledge of Norse Mythology before reading this book, I decided to do the Norse Mythology Tag, for which I was nominated for by Obsessions of A Bookaholic AGES ago. I thought this was the perfect time to do it, so here we go!

ODIN – Favourite Standalone

Odin is the All-Father, the leader of the Norse Gods. He is the god of wisdom, poetry, battle, death, wine, and war, among other things

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

18584855

Oh my god, I love this book so so much. Unique, fascinating, and utterly heart breaking, it’s probably one of my favourite stand alone books ever.

THOR – A Book That Hits You Right in the Feels

Thor is the god of thunder, weather, warriors, strength, and storms, so his might packs a punch. He is married to the beautiful Lady Sif.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

30312891

Did you hear that cracking noise? That’s my heart every time I think of Lord of Shadows. THAT BOOK HAS TORTURED MY SOUL, I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF THE NEXT BOOK. SAVE MY SOUL PLS. CLARE THRIVES ON RIPPING HER READERS HEART OUT.

LOKI – Biggest Plot Twist or Character Betrayal

Loki is the god of mischief and thieves, and thrives on chaos.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

I’m sorry I named another Cassandra Clare book BUT HOLY CHEESE I WAS NOT EXPECTING THE BETRAYAL. I WAS IN FRICKIN SHOCK. I CAN’T SAY MORE BUT AHHHHH.

FRIGG – OTP

Frigg is Odin’s wife, the goddess of love, marriage, fertility, and fate.

ONE OTP??? Are you asking me to choose ONE favourite pair? I HAVE HUNDREDS OF SHIPS. WHO SHOULD I CHOOSE? (There’s Feysand, and Wessa, and Dramione, and Kaider, and Maxerica, and June and Day, AND AGH SO MANY MORE) I finally decided to go with Percabeth though, they were my first ship ever, and I’ve seen them grow from dumb 12 year olds to not as dumb 18 year olds, and they’re still growing. They’re so so cute and *HYSTERICAL SOBBING* I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

HEIMDALL – Favourite Second in a Series

Heimdall is the god of loyalty, faithfulness and he is who protects the bi-frost, the bridge that connects all nine worlds.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Image result for ACOMAF

Is there any answer but A Court of Mist and Fury? Most second books in a series end up pretty disappointing, but not ACOMAF. The book was P.E.R.F.E.C.T.I.O.N.

BALDUR – Favourite Male Character

Baldur is the beloved son of Odin and Frigg, twin brother of Hodor.

Again- ONE FAVOURITE BOY? ONE? I HAVE SO MANY FICTIONAL LOVE INTERESTS. WILL AND JACE AND KIT AND BASICALLY EVERY HERONDALE. PERCY JACKSON. LEO VALDEZ. NICO DI ANGELO. KAI. HIDEO TANAKA. RHYSAND HOT PANTS. DANIEL ALTAN WING. JULIAN BLACKTHORN. TY BLACKTHORN. ROWAN WHITEHORN. AND I HAVE’NT EVEN STARTED YET. Okay, calm. I’m calm. After a lot of pain and tons of apologizing to my other boys, I choose Will Herondale. I’m a simple girl I see a Herondale, and I know what to do.

SIF – Most Beautiful Book Cover

Lady Sif is known for her beautiful golden tresses, although she is also the goddess of the harvest and is married to Thor.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I recently finished this book, and OMG I adored it. It was one hundred percent worth the hype. Also, the cover is sooo gorgeous!!! I love the way this book looks on my bookshelf!!

FREY – A Book or Series That Made You Happy

Frey is the Lord of weather, god of light, summer, master of agriculture, fertility, and brother of Freya.

Magnolia by Kristi Cook

Image result for magnolia by kristi cook

Ahhh this book was so cute! I personally love stories of hate turning into love, and that’s what this was. Sweet, a bit cheesy, mushy, it left me with a goofy grin plastered on my face the entire time!

FREYA – Favourite Book Setting

Freya is the goddess of love and beauty, fertility, war, wealth and growth, and sister of Frey.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Image result for the night circus

I cannot talk enough about how beautiful the writing and setting of this book was! Every description was so vivid and enchanting, I had been completely mesmerized by the world Erin Morgenstern wove.

TYR – Favourite Book With a Huge Upheaval or Epic Fight Scene

Tyr is the god of war.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Image result for a court of wings and ruin

AHHH the war in this book was amazing!!!! It was a massive battle and oh wow it was an epic conclusion to this series!! I also wanted to add Empire of Storms here, but I still haven’t recovered from the ending of that book so I wont say it.

ULLER – Character Death That Affected You the Most

Uller is the god of death, winter, archery and hunting.

The Young Elites by Marie Lu

Image result for the young elites

Literally every death in this book affected me. But the death of a certain someone in The Rose Society for the SECOND TIME and then the death of another person at the end of The Midnight Star really broke my heart. *UGLY, HEART WRENCHING TEARS*

NJORD – Favourite Book With an Epic Journey in a Water/Sea Setting

Njord is the god of the wind and sea.

Wake by Amanda Hocking

Image result for amanda hocking watersong series

So I actually haven’t read too many series which are based in water. This is the first book of the Watersong trilogy, and I’d really enjoyed it! I haven’t read the second book yet, (cuz priorities) but I do remember really liking the setting and concept of this book!

VALKYRIE – Strong Female Character

The Valkyries, much like the Amazons, are strong female warriors.

CELAENA BADASS SARDOTHIEN. She’s the QUEEN OF ASSASSINS. LIKE HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! And not just incredible physical strength, Celaena is so mentally strong to have gone through everything she did, and still come out as a sassy, smirking, fire breathing bitch queen. I love her. YOU GO QUEEN.

AESIR/VANIR – Favourite Book Crew

The Aesir and the Vanir are the two groups of Norse gods, believed to be the old and new gods.

Every one seems to be naming the Six of Crows crew here, but I haven’t read that series yet. (don’t kill me, I’ve ordered it and I’m getting it by next week!) So I’m gonna go with the Rampion Crew! I also adore Rhys’s inner circle, but I wanted to name a series I haven’t named yet. The rampion crew is the funniest, coolest, most dysfunctional crew ever, and I love every single one of those cupcakes!

SEIPYRTS – Favourite Non-Human Sidekick

Seipyrts is Odin’s trusty eight legged steed; yes, you heard that correctly – eight legs.  I promise that he is the god’s horse companion and not a giant spider that he rides around on… although that would probably strike more fear in the hearts of his enemies than pretty horse does.

Iko the android from The Lunar Chronicles! Iko is the wittiest, sassiest, funniest android ever, and is definitely a show stealer in The Lunar Chronicles!!

That’s all guys! I tag anyone who wants to do this tag, or hasn’t done it yet! Tag me back so I can read your answers!!

Thanks for reading!
