October Playlist: My Go-To Songs When I’m Reading

I literally start every single one of these posts with a “OMG I totally forgot this was a feature on my blog”. So now, I’m just gonna do this when I remember to instead of reminding you guys every time that I’m a forgetful mess. October was a stressful month for me, and I think I’ll be doing a life update post soon to give you all some deets on what’s going on. But for now, I’ll say it has been very stressful, and so I have been very emo with my music tastes. All of these are big time bops and I highly recommend! A couple of these songs are old and nostalgic and get me right in the emo feels!

I’m also gonna share my Spotify here, so feel free to follow me if you like the songs I recommend, and if u wanna check out the rest of my music playlists!

1. Teenagers by My Chemical Romance

Ah the classic rebel anthem. I listen to this song and imagine myself in an alternate universe where I’m actually a badass, not a nerd who spends her life in her room. MCR is the band that introduced me to emo music, and they opened up my doors to Fall Out Boy, P!ATD, and TØP, so I am forever in love with them.

2. I Warned Myself by Charlie Puth

Charlie’s music had a serious glow up?? I wasn’t a fan before, but his new music has me rethinking everything. I Warned Myself has the coolest kinda edgy but kinda fresh vibe, and it’s a really interesting and unique twist on his regular music. We stan.

3. Words by Scotty Sire

Ladies and gentlemen, if you have a crush on anyone, this is the song for u. Everything about this song screams heart eyes. It’s so adorable, so relatable, and the lyrics video is so so cute.

4. Trampoline by Shaed ft. Zayn

Zayn was always my fav out of the One Direction boys. His voice is so unique, so smooth, and just everything about his vocals is so elegant. SHAED also has a beautiful voice, and together, they have a really cool kinda haunting sound. Zayn is ❤

5. Kill My Mind by Louis Tomlinson

Louis was my second fav!! He was so underrated in 1D, but his solo music is doing well. I’m not big into his electronic vibe, but I lovelovelove the rock sound in Kill My Mind. It’s a great song to scream along to, and has a great beat.

6. Lights Up by Harry Styles

I am going to be ATTACKED for this, but I never liked Harry Styles. I’m still not a fan, but wow this is an incredible song. There’s no denying that Harry has a lot of talent, and he is both mainstream and edgy enough that his music is appealing to everyone. Lights Up has such a good indie feel to his music that really elevates it. And the video of the song and just Harry’s aesthetic in it truly made me understand why he has so many people fangirling over him.

7. Graveyard by Halsey

We truly stan a queen. That’s all imma say.

8. Apocalypse by Cigarettes After Sex

Literally why did I only discover Cigarettes after sex this year. Their music is so eerie and so haunting, and so so beautiful. Perfect to listen to at 3 am when you’re the only one up.

9. Bellyache by Billie Eilish

Billie is so cute, and bellyache is such a fun song. It’s so boppy and so fun, until you listen to the lyrics and realise it’s kinda dark and disturbing. But you know, until you realise that, it’s such a happy song.

10. Paper Planes by M.I.A

Have you ever heard a better party/hype song? No, you haven’t, because there is no song more hype than Paper Planes.

11. Play That Song by Train

I don’t know how to describe this song. It literally sounds like a happy soul. This song just lifts my mood immediately and makes me feel so much happier 🙂

12. Still Into You by Paramore

This song feels older than it actually is. This is the kinda song you find yourself screaming into a hairbrush and jumping around in your room to at 2am. I come back to this song every couple months because it’s just so nostalgic 🙂

13. I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace

Ah another emo classic. I used to sing this song in the 7th grade pretending I hate my imaginary ex-boyfriend. This is still the song I apply my really dark eyeliner and mascara to.

Aaand that’s it! 13 songs felt fitting for Spooky Month, so I’m gonna end it on that note. Have you heard any of these? Did you like any of them? Have I gotten you obsessed with any new artists? Let me know in the comments!

Thanks for reading!
